Yes, there are some things you need to do differently.
When using Reflux Mode, the column must be filled with the Stainless Steel and Copper saddles for it to reflux effectively and the Reflux Distillation Tip installed, see here for column packing information. Use the Mode Selector Button to set the unit to Reflux mode.
To do this:
- Press the button once to enter standby mode (white glow).
- Then press it again so this it glows green. A single beep sound will also confirm the unit is in Reflux Mode.
When the unit is distilling in Reflux Mode, it will automatically finish the distillation once all of the alcohol has been distilled out of the boiler.
If using Pot Still Mode, the column must be empty and Pot Still Distillation Tip installed. Use the Mode Selector Button to set the unit to Pot Still mode.
To do this:
- Press the button once to enter standby mode (white glow),
- Then press and hold for 3 seconds until it glows magenta (purple). A double beep sound will also confirm the unit is in Pot Still Mode.
In pot still mode, you must manually turn it off by pressing the Mode Selector Button. It will not automatically finish like in reflux mode.
